001 - [voice]

[It had started out gradually. A stir in the pre-dawn of morning. A twitch of the nose, a driving need to get up and... do things, when she had just barely gotten to rest. And so April had cleaned up the small room she was using (although she had yet to find a way to pay for it). And then she crashed, sleeping away the rest of the day. But now that it was dusk, April was wide awake and raring to go. More than restless, she had gone out into the city, peeking into buildings, sniffing at strange vegetation, generally flitting from place to place. Even though April had spent the majority of her first week or so in the City exploring, she felt compelled to do it again.

It was the loud noise from a nearby bar as a young couple left the premises that had made her bolt upright, holding herself still as an irrational fear flooded her system. It was the banging of the door as it fell shut that made her bolt down the nearest alley. Half way down, April willed herself to stop, resting a hand against the wall to anchor herself there.

This was a most peculiar state of being, acting on emotion.

Turning on her device, April started walking down the alley, slowly catching her breath again.]

Well, well... Now wasn't that an odd experience: bolting down an alley just because I heard a loud noise. Never thought I'd do that considering I'm usually the one making all the noise in the establishment.

[sharp laugh]

I don't know which is worse, the fact I'm put off my beer, or that I just ran away from it. It'd be nice if there was an easy way to get rid of these curses.
