7th beer on the wall | [voice/action]

So what's the likelihood of seeing an old face today? One in a million? A thousand? Less then a hundred? Not that I'm expecting anyone, but it would be nice to know if I should plan for a surprise tonight.
[/voice]
April's just down at the local pub, drinking a whiskey (she was conserving her money until payday after that shopping curse a few days ago) and listening to the crowd and the clock ticking in the background. At least it was good distraction to the twinge of pain pricking her chest. Because it didn't exist. It was an impossibility. And it had nothing to do with losing her partner all over again, even if it had been some two weeks since he disappeared.
((ooc: Yay, 4th wall! Spoilers, backtagging, threadjacks, and canonmates would be loved but not required.))

[waves a barkeep over for her one-time acquaintance. She'd get him a beer, but she doesn't want to presume.]

[ And he'll start with something stout because he isn't really here to get drunk. ] Didn't expect to find you here. I mean, actually you. [ Does that sound weird? He doesn't care. ]

Maybe that's how they're keeping the import and export costs down. They just trade us back and forth for tax purposes. [her own amused laugh before she raises a brow] You must have been on your best behavior if the old computer gave you a free pass twice. Or were you hoping to find someone else?
[She hasn't yet experienced the joy of doppelgangers, so yes, it does sound a little... weird.]

[ After a sip of the ale, he sighs. ] Mostly.
[ Then tilting his head her way. ] In here? Maybe, maybe not. I was mostly just tired of walking around. [ A beat. ] Do you know a girl named Euphie?

[sips at her whiskey, watching him. He seemed a bit down the first time she talked to him too.] Your friends still trying to keep you out of things?
[smiles at Euphie's name] I meet her briefly.

Hm? [ ...oh, that's right. That's the day that he had argued with ... pretty much everyone. Sighing, he waved a hand. ] Things are... a bit better now. I understand the situation better, which is all I wanted, you know?
[ A warm chuckle. ] I'm not surprised. She's a real sweetheart, and seems to know everyone no matter where I meet her.

[pause]
Yes, communication does tend to help things along.
