But considering the situation, even that should wait. Are you certain it's just not too shy to come out in the open?

Then I'll have to ask for Mother if I ever seem in a bind. And remember to leave a trail of chocolate for you find me by.
[ it's so very hansel and gretel which is perhaps why she's smiling at the thought of leaving thumbtacks and things under his sheets instead of his pillow later that night. Just to keep him on his toes. ]
[ Doesn't he run that risk every time he texts her, whether it's in the CDC or otherwise... ]

Parched? I would've thought you'd be drunk off the gossip already. And no, apparently I forgot my alphabet somewhere along the way from text to hitting send.
[ pretend this is split up in the appropriate character count segments. also, we'll both have this thread tracked, so feel free to respond to cissnei, or to jack, or to both o7 unless specified, we'll assume any responses are visible to both of them. ]
Welcome to Knife - first and foremost, all jokes regarding the callsign 'shortcakes' will be met with Cissnei's foot up someone's ass. We've been designated as internal/close control. Dagger hasn't given any other more implicit definition of that, but one might assume we'll be doing a lot of watching of our crewmates.
Which shouldn't be anything new to you if you've been on Red for a month or so already.
I'm Jack Benjamin, not Jonathan, not Johnny, not Jon, or another other horrid shortening of the name you might come up with other than 'Jack'. Our other unit lead is Cissnei. We're here to pass along orders from Dagger and assist in guiding this unit in carrying out said orders, as well as our individual members in progressing in and managing their time in the Neheda crew.
We are also now responsibile for you, so, should you find yourself up shit creek without a paddle, please remember that you are not only part of a team, but part of a unit. Don't be a dumbass. Call for help.
Should you have any concerns, comments, colorful anecdotes, now would be the time to voice them.
Not much to add that Jack hasn't already covered quite capably and that includes the part about jokes regarding the callsign. So consider this my agreement to all he's said already. It'll be an adjustment while we figure out the fine details of what our new unit means but Jack and I will keep you informed as much as possible once we know more.
Not that it'll be much more. Dagger's good at vague. But internal affairs speaks well enough for itself, I'd say.
And with all that said, the last thing I do want to add is this: we've had a brutal last few days. Consider this advisement from at least one of your unit leads to make sure you rest up, eat properly and maintain your weapons while you have the chance.
And if you are finding things hard going and need an ear, I'll be around. As Jack said, don't force yourself to do things alone. It doesn't help anyone.
DAY 71 breaks in this inbox too
You know, I have been parched for your presence.
[ Read: don't be dead. ]

Can't catch a drink without me here to fetch it for you?
[ read: be careful what you wish for, especially since november probably hasn't had a bath in a week. ]
no subject
No drinking on the job.
FROM: 11.november@cdc.org
By the by, I don't suppose you've heard any clicking sounds, have you?
[ She probably has, he knows this. ]
no subject
Not even a sip?
[ who's got the tough love now? ]
From: april@cdc.org
Is it so strange to hear a few clicks now and then? I did run into an old friend, however.
From: april@cdc.org
It's February.

Not recommended.
FROM: 11.november@cdc.org
It's not routine. Especially when it follows you down a hall.

Amber. She's been nosing into things, as per usual.

A girl can die of thirst you know.
[ quite literally in April's case, but she takes the concern well in stride. No drinking and driving; isn't that how it always goes? ]
From: april@cdc.org
Perhaps you just charmed it into following. You do have that affect on others.
From: april@cdc.org
But it does seem to move at a good clip. Has anyone seen our curious clicker?
[ and as far as Amber goes, that's all she needed to know. Not enemies, but not true "friends" either. They were still contractors after all. ]

I'm sure you'll survive your dry spell.
FROM: 11.november@cdc.org
I'd take offence to that, but I've yet to confirm its attractiveness.
FROM: 11.november@cdc.org
No, and it's not likely. Word from above says it's camouflaging and can hide its heat signature.

I suppose no smoking is allowed either then?

Only for remuneration purposes. Which, conveniently, is the only time that comes up for me anyway.
FROM: 11.november@cdc.org
You know, I hadn't considered that angle. Maybe it's leaving presents.

Mothership. Verified source material.

The only time? Have you thought of getting that checked?
[ she only has the greatest concern for your health partner, but who knew that death could make November impotent? ]
FROM: april@cdc.org
But all things considered, I'd check under your pillow tonight. If it is leaving a trail, we shouldn't be too careful.
[ in fact, she'll help however she can. Just say the word. ]
FROM: april@cdc.org
A mothership? Is that supposed to be the ship's AI?
[ and now it was starting to feel like a scene from Star Trek. Or Aliens. It really all depends on just how many of them die. ]

Remuneration is remuneration, no matter what activity it follows.
[ April please... ]
FROM: 11.november@cdc.org
I always check under my pillow, you know that. And Mothership is one of the Blue Team leads. She's generally in charge of Medical.

Perfectly fine, though feeling a bit parched with all these texts zinging through the air. You sure you wanted to ask me if he's here?

What a shame I seem to be fine then. It's always a treat watching November pass out from cold sweat. I don't suppose he's with you?
